Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has revealed that he received a lucrative offer during the close season but ultimately chose to stay at Old Trafford. Despite interest from other clubs, Fernandes decided to commit his future to United after the club showed how much they valued him. The Portuguese playmaker credited the club's efforts to make him feel important as a key factor in his decision to remain with the Red Devils for the upcoming Premier League season.

Fernandes opens up on big move

"This vote of confidence from the club was very important for me," said Fernandes.

"Even because I was approached [by other clubs], the club was aware that there was a possibility of me leaving, I had concrete offers."

"But the club showed that it needed me, that it was at a time of change, and that they wanted to do things differently."

Manchester United will start the new season on Friday against Fulham at Old Trafford as much is expected from the club. They will be expected to finish in the top four of the Premier League standings, having invested heavily in the team. The team on Tuesday confirmed the arrivals of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich, after already having acquired the services of Lery Yono in defence.

The club also invested in Joshua Zirkzee in the transfer window, which now puts them in a healthy position to challenge for the Premier League title. However, the club’s primary aim will be to get back into the top four, having missed out on the Champions League football this season. The club will, however, play in the Europa League, having won the FA Cup last term.

Interestingly, the club will be managed by Erik ten Hag, who was on the brink of sack after having endured a tough 2023-24 season.
