Born in Hyderabad on November 8, 2002, Tilak Verma made his IPL debut in 2022. He first gained prominence by scoring two centuries in the 2020-21 Vijay Hazare Trophy. At the 2022 IPL auction, Mumbai Indians acquired him for ₹1.70 crore, despite his base price being ₹20 lakh and his status as an uncapped player. Since then, Tilak Verma has consistently excelled for the Mumbai Indians.
In the first T20I between India and the West Indies in 2023, Tilak Verma made his debut. Alongside him, Mukesh Kumar also debuted for Team India. While Mukesh’s debut was relatively uneventful, Tilak Verma quickly showcased why the selectors had faith in him. In his very first T20 match, Tilak scored 39 runs, making a notable impression.
